State University Of Performing And Visual Arts Rohtak Entrance Exam (SUPVA REE) - Ph.D. Entrance Test

Eligibility for Admission
Educational Qualifications:

A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme must satisfy the following relevant academic criteria:
Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent B grade in UGC seven-point scale in the subject concerned or in an allied subject (to be specified by DRC & PG BOS & Research as and when required).

Note: 5% relaxation in minimum eligibility conditions shall be given to SC/ST & differently-abled candidates of Haryana.

Procedure For Admission
  • Admission notice for registration to Ph.D. programme shall be issued once/twice in a year by the university from time to time.
  • Number of available seats in different departments will be notified in advance in at least two national newspapers. State reservation policy will be followed.
  • The candidate shall apply for registration/admission to the university in the prescribed application form (along with fee as decided by the University from time to time) stating his/her qualifications and the subject he/she proposes to investigate by enclosing a statement /a brief concept/ synopsis note of the research proposal.
  • Every application for admission to the doctoral programme in any faculty will be sent to the Chairperson/Head of the Department concerned in the prescribed format with a brief summary of the broader area of his/her proposed research.
  • The Departmental Research Committee (DRC), as stipulated in clause 7.2 of the Ph. D. ordinance will scrutinize the eligibility of the applicants. Ph.D. ordinance is available on the university website- www.plcsupva.ac.in.
  • The eligible applicants will have to qualify the prescribed Entrance Test meant for admission to Ph.D. Programme with at least 50% marks. The syllabus of the entrance test shall consist of 50% questions of research methodology and 50% questions from the subject domain
  • The applicants who have qualified UGC/CSIR/DBT (JRF/SRF)/ SLET/GATE/any other funding national agency/ teacher fellowship holder are exempted from the entrance test.

    (Note: Teacher Fellowship holder is a regular teacher in a university or college who is allowed & sponsored for the programme through study leave by institution/ UGC.
  • The successful applicants i.e. eligible applicants who qualify the Entrance Test or otherwise exempted, shall be tested by the DRC through seminar/presentation/ interview etc.
  • The merit list for admission to Ph.D. Programme shall be prepared by the concerned department according to the following criteria: -.
    A. 20% marks of the percentage of marks in the Master's degree examination.
    B. 10% marks of the percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree examination.
    C. 45% marks of the marks obtained in the entrance test
    OR
    Weightage of 35 marks to those candidates who have been exempted from the entrance test as per Clause 2.7 above
    D. 25% marks of the DRC presentation.
    E. A weightage of 5 marks shall be given to the students, who have passed their master’s degree programme from PLCSUPVA.
  • The DRC after satisfying that the subject offered is one which can profitably be pursued under the supervision of the university and that the successful candidate possesses the requisite qualification, will recommend such candidates on the basis of the merit list for the available seats for admission to Pre Ph.D. course work or for registration (if exempted from the course work as per Clause 5.1 of the Ph. D ordinance).
  • In every case, the department will have disciplinary and general control over the research students.
  • The Head of the Department after completing necessary formalities i.e. verification of certificates with originals and collection of fees etc. will issue the admission letters to the candidates. The date of reporting in the department concerned shall be specified in the admission letter.
  • There shall be 50% seats in each department within which allocation of seats among categories shall be as per Haryana Govt. rules.
Counselling and Admission

The final eligibility of candidates shall be determined at the time of presentation/interview before Departmental Research Committee to be conducted by the respective departments and accordingly the admissions shall be made as per the Ph.D. ordinance.

Instructions for Candidates

Candidates shall bring ONE SET of self-attested copies of following documents (as applicable) at the time of counselling/presentation alongwith print out of online filled application form (as applicable) for admission in Ph.D. Programmes and submit the same in respective department.
 Fee receipt.
 Three Passport size photographs.
 Certificates showing the detailed marks / grades in all subjects in the qualifying examination
 Matriculation/Hr. Secondary Examination Certificate as proof of date of birth.
 Conversion Table/Formula showing equivalence between percentage and CGPA of the qualifying degree.
 Valid JRF score card / GATE Score / NET (wherever applicable).
 Character Certificate
 For gap period, if any, the candidate will submit an affidavit from the notary / first class magistrate certifying his/her good conduct.
 Haryana Resident Certificate
 Certificate from the Employer
 SC/DSC/BC-A or BC-B (OBC is not valid)/PH/FF/DFF/ESM
 Sponsorship and Relieving Certificate
 Income certificate from competent authority
The candidates shall bring any of his identity proof with photograph such as Driving License, Pan Card, Passport, Voter Card, Aadhar Card etc. at the time of entrance test.
Candidates with valid JRF (UGC/CSIR/DBT/any other through entrance test) may also appear in the Entrance Test, if they so desire, to improve their weightage.

Important Informations -

1. This prospectus is for admission to various Ph.D. programmes of PLCSUPVA for the academic session 2022-23 only. If at all any contents are changed the same will be notified on the University website.
2. Prospectus for admission for the session 2022-23 can be downloaded from the University’s website at www.plcsupva.ac.in.
3. Application fee once paid shall not be refunded in any case.
4. Application for admission may be submitted along with fee online. The candidates must also upload self-attested copies of certificates/testimonials of all the examinations passed by the candidate from 10th standard onwards/ other documents and latest Character Certificate.
5. All the candidates will be required to produce the proof (in original) of having passed the qualifying examination on the basis of which admission is being sought before the Admission Committee at the time of counselling. However, the self-attested copies of the same must reach PLCSUPVA office at least 3 days prior to counselling.
6. The candidate claiming the benefit of reservation shall submit a certificate to this effect from the competent authority.
7. Residents of Haryana are entitled for admission against all India Category seats also.
8. The application or any other documents attached thereto once submitted shall not be returned but that candidate may be called on to show the original documents at any given point to check the authenticity of that given documents.
9. Nothing contained in this prospectus should be constructed to convey sanction or cited as an authority for which University regulations also are applicable.
10. If a candidate is admitted on the basis of the information submitted by him/her, which is found to be incorrect or false later on, his/ her admission will be cancelled and the fees and other dues paid by him//her shall be forfeited University may also take further action, as deemed fit.
11. If the Admission Committee/ University authorities are not satisfied with the character, past behaviour and antecedents of a candidate, it may refuse to allow admission.
12. There will be Admission Committee(s) to be constituted by Vice-Chancellor for admission to all courses in a Faculty which shall be headed by the Faculty Coordinator. A candidate not satisfied with the decision of the Admission Committee may represent to the Vice-Chancellor.
13. All disputes pertaining to admission for the session 2022-23 are subject to the jurisdiction of Rohtak only. In this regard university may sue or it may be sued. No suit or other legal proceedings shall lie against any officer or employee of the University working in good faith.
15. Before seeking admission candidates are required to consult the updated list of examinations recognized by the UGC. In case during scrutiny or at a later stage, examination passed by the candidate is found unrecognized his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.
