Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences Online Entrance Test (SHUATS Online Entrance Test(SOET)) - Requirements And General Instruction

SOET-2022 will be conducted as a remotely proctored online entrance test with artificial intelligence driven image and window proctoring. The candidates appearing in SOET-2022 can attend two (2) mock practice tests for hands-on practicing for the SOET. It is mandatory to appear at least in one mock practice test.

System And Internet Requirements
  • Setup time: 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Laptop / Desktop with Microsoft WINDOWS operating system with Camera and Mic in working condition (with a front facing camera and Mic).
  • Browser: Google chrome browser 50.00 version and above.
  • If you are using laptop then ensure that the battery is fully charged.
  • If you are using desktop, ensure that UPS backup is available.
  • Steady internet connectivity with alternate internet facility in case of failure.
    o (Download speed @ 5 Mbps and Upload Speed @ 3 Mbps required).
    o Internet speed can be checked through the “RUN SPEED TEST” link available in google.
  • Note: It is recommended to have a backup system in case of system failure.
General Instruction
  • Total duration of test is 90 Minutes only.
  • Total questions to be answered is 100.
  • All the questions are of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type.
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • Negative marking 0.25 is applicable for every wrong answers.
  • Kindly login 30 minutes before the commencement of the test.
  • Decide in advance a room or a place where you plan to set up your laptop or desktop for taking the test.
Checks Prior To Start Of The Online Test
  • Carefully read the instructions and familiarize yourself with the steps.

  • Ensure your laptop has adequate charge / Desktop and internet router etc. connected to a power back up.
  • Ensure that the room or space you planned to use taking the test is well lit and noise free.
  • Read the instructions carefully on clicking the link and follow the steps as prompted.
  • Settle down comfortably before you start the Online Test.
  • Ensure no one else is in the room.
  • Ensure lighting is sufficient. (The proctoring tool will prompt till it can detect your face)
  • Ensure that the room is quiet for the proctoring tool to listen.
  • Close all other browsers.
  • Keep the link ready to start the Online Test.
  • Keep drinking water in case you need.
Activities Treated As Test Violations Or Malpractices Leading To Disqualification / Marks Deduction During Mock Tests & Entrance Test
  • Disconnecting the web cam.
  • Disconnecting the microphone, muting the microphone, or lowering it volume.
  • Usage of headphones, air pods and other similar devices are not allowed.
  • Ensure that your online test environment is free from background voices/noises/music.
  • Wearing sunglasses or cap during the online test is not allowed.
  • Accompanying other people in the room near you is strictly prohibited.
  • Communicating with other persons by any means during the online test will be treated as malpractice activity.
  • Do not have any programs or applications like MS Teams, Zoom, Google-Meet etc. that use the webcam, microphone & screen-share during the online test.
  • Taking photos, screen shots or video recording of the online test for any purpose will be treated as malpractice

If any candidate is found performing any of the above activity during Mock Tests / Entrance Test, marks will be deducted and if he/she continue to repeat any such activities, he/she will be disqualified and the test result will be withheld. The admission committee reserves the right to disqualify any candidate(s) during the Online Entrance Test or later upon verification of the recorded videos. Please remember the candidates are monitored by our Proctors and also the test videos are being recorded.

Scholarships

Bonafide students of the University, who have a good conduct and extra ordinary academic record, belonging to a weaker socio- economic background can be awarded scholarships, which are being offered by various agencies, viz;

c. All India Association for Christian Higher Education (AIACHE), New Delhi
d. Jindal Trust, New Delhi
e. Rajya Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad- Allahabad
f. U.P. Alpsankhyak Vittia Awam Nigam- Lucknow (forms will be available at the Registrar’s Office)
g. SC/ST/OBC/Minorities Scholarships of State Government
h. Earn while you learn programme (SHIATS-DU work scholarship*/assistantship**)
i. Chaplain’s Scholarship***
j. Yeshu Darbar Scholarship***

Every candidate to be considered for financial assistance under “Earning While Learning Scheme” must apply in his/ her own handwriting with income Certificate from the Parents / Guardian and photocopy of the mark sheet of the last semester completed in the institute. Selection shall be valid for one academic session i.e. July to June each year. Selected UG & PG candidate shall be permitted to work for a maximum of 40 hrs. each month & for Ph.D 60 hrs. The payment shall be made @ Rs. 25/-per hour The maximum amount earned in a month by any candidate shall not be more then Rs . 1000/-(one thousand) only for UG & PG. For Ph.D maximum amount shall not be more that Rs. 1500/- . The last date for the submission of application form shall be announced each year and application should be submitted in the office of the Dean Students Welfare accordingly. Those who are engaged for tuition to the wards of the SHIATS employees shall be eligible to receive Rs. 750/ -P.M. only of this amount 50% i.e. Rs. 375/-shall be paid by the actual user and remaining 50% (Rs.375-) shall be paid by the University. Each employee shall give a certificate that the student has worked for 30 hrs. for a month and has been paid Rs. 375/-by the user. No student shall be eligible under this scheme is he/she fails in four (4) or more courses. A candidate will not be eligible to avail financial assistance under this scheme if he/she has availed fee concession / scholarship or any other financial assistance form outside agency.

Assistantship Research/Teaaching Assistantship shall be available in limited number for meritorious and needy students pursuing their Masters or Ph. D. Programmes.

  • *** Chaplain's Scholarship/Yeshu Darbar Scholarship:

These scholarships are available only to poor and needy Christian students. The Christian Students will be required to submit the following documents to University Chaplain and Secretary, Yeshu Darbar respectively for availing these scholarship (i) Letter of recommendation from the Pastor of the Church duly authenticated by the Senior Pastor or Bishop. (ii) Baptism Certificate / Confirmation Certificate (iii) Parent's Income Certificate
