Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) - Eligibility Criteria

A) MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMME IN SCIENCES, LIFE SCIENCES & MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES.

1. Chemistry: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination in science with chemistry as one of the core subjects in all the three years.

2. Geography: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination with Geography as one of the core subjects in all the three years

3. Home Science: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of B.Sc (Home Science) or BA (with Home Science as one of the core subject) or B.Sc (Medical) under 10+2+3 pattern. However, first preference shall be given to the candidates qualifying B.Sc Home Science and Second preference shall be given to those who passed B.A with home science as one subject. Only in case, seats fall vacant in above categories, they shall be offered to candidates having qualified Bachelor's Degree in Medical Stream:

4. Physics: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination in science with Physics as one of the core subjects in all the three years,

5. Electronics: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination in Science with Electronics or Physics as one of the core subjects in all the three years of the B.Sc. Degree examination. In case the seats are left vacant in Open Category then the candidates with B.E/B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the recognised Universities / Institutes shall be considered for admission under second preferenice

6. Applied Geology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of B.Sc examination with Geology as one of the Core subjects:

7. Mathematics: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of Bachelor Degree Examination with Mathematics as one of the core subjects in all the three years.

8. Statistics: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of Bachelor Degree Examination with Statistics / Mathematics as one of the core/ DSC courses in all the three years. However, the candidates with Statistics subject will be considered under 1st preference and thereafter candidates with Mathematics subject would be considered under 2nd preference.

9. Information Technology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream.

10. Computer Science and IT (MCA): A candidate seeking admission to MCA programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream/discipline with atleast 50% of the aggregate marks (45% for the candidates belonging to SC/ST).

11. Environmental Sciences: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor Degree examination in Science, Forestry, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Engineering/ Technology and must have biology// Environmental Sciences as one of the elective subjects at 10+2 Level.

12. Botany: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of Bachelor Degree Examination with Botany as one of the core subjects in all the three years.

13. Zoology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of Bachelor Examination with Zoology as one of the core subjects in all the three years degree.

14. Sericulture: A Candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelors degree examination with Sericulture as one of the elective subjects. However, If seats remain vacant, candidates with Botany or Zoology, as one of the subjects, shall also be considered.

✓SELF-FINANCING PROGRAMMES:

15. Biotechnology (Self Sponsored Seats): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have Bachelor's Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4 years B.Sc (Physician Assistant Course) OR Medicine (MBBS) OR B.D.S with at least 55% marks The admission to 3 additional (NRI/Industry) seats is made on the basis of Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) and submission of a sponsorship letter from NRI/Industry.

16. Microbiology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Medical Stream/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Agriculture/ Veterinary Science/ Botany/ Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ B.Pharma/ MBBS/Physiotherapy or B.D.S with 55% marks.

17. Biochemistry: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc) under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Medical Stream/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Agriculture/ Veterinary Science/ Botany/ Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ B.Pharma/ MBBS/ Physiotherapy or BDS with 55% marks.

18. HUMAN GENETICS: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor. degree examination in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Fishery Sciences, Medicine (M.B.B.S), Physiotherapy or B.D.S. with minimum 55% marks.

19. Remote Sensing and GIS: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have Bachelor Degree in Science/ B.C.A/ Engineering/Agriculture & Forestry and Bachelors Degree in Arts with Geography as one of the subjects from any recognized Indian University with not less than 50% marks.

B) MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMME IN ARTS, SOCIAL SCIENCES, EDUCATION, LAW and MANAGEMENT STUDIES:

20. Dogri: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor Degree Examination in any stream but the preference will be given to candidates as per following criteria:
a. Studied Dogri at UG Level
b. Honours in Dogri
c. Studied any Language at UG Level
d. Any other stream

21. English: For admission to the programme, first preference will be given to the candidates who have passed BA (Honors) in English or with English Literature as the main, elective, or additional subject irrespective of whether the examination passed is in Arts, Science or Commerce stream for at least 4 Semesters. A candidate who has passed in the qualifying examination without English Literature subject shall also be considered subject to the availability of seats, if any, provided he/she has scored a minimum of 60% in the qualifying examination.

22. Hindi: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination with Hindi as one of the core subjects or honours in Hindi language.

23. Sanskrit: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in final year of bachelor degree examination with Sanskrit as Core Course / subject or honours examination in Sanskrit from any UGC recoganized University / Institution.

24. Urdu: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed final year of bachelor degree examination with Urdu, Persian or Arabic as Core Course/ subject or with honours examination in any of the above said languages.

25. BUDDHIST STUDIES: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year/semester with 45% of aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) of Bachelor Degree Examination in Arts. The Candidates with Bachelor Degree other than Arts with not less than 60% marks are also eligible. In addition to the existing seats, admission will also be open to 10 foreign students, fulfilling the eligibility condition and other legal requirements.

26. Punjabi: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor degree examination with Punjabi as a Core Course/ subject or with Honours (Gyani) in Punjabi and Bachelor Degree in any discipline / subject with 60% or more marks is also eligible.

27. Kashmiri: A candidate to be eligible for admission to the Masters Degree in Kashmiri must have passed the qualifying Bachelor Degree examination of 10+2+3 pattern (Honours or General) in any stream from a statutory University/Institution with atleast 40% of the aggregate marks (36% for the SC/ST candidates) or with Kashmiri as a Core / Elective at UG Level.

28. Arabic: A candidate to be eligible for admission to the Masters Degree in Arabic must have passed in the qualifying Bachelor Degree examination of 10+2+3 pattern (Honours or General) in Arts with Arabic as one of the core course/subject.

29. Journalism & Media Studies: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed Bachelor Degree examination in any discipline from the University of Jammu or any other university recognised by the University of Jammu or any other qualification recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks for General Category and 45% for SC/ST Categories

30. History: A candidate seeking admission examination. Preference will be given as:
i. History Honours to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree
ii. History as one of the subjects at Under Graduate level/ elective or additional
iii. Allied/Social Sciences as one of the subject at Under Graduate level not less than 55% marks in the subject

31. POLITICAL SCIENCE: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination with Political Science as a Core Course/ Subject or BA Honours in Political Science.

32. ECONOMICS: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination with Economics as a Core subject. 10% of the seats will be available to the following students:
1. Those who have passed B.A with Economics from other than University of Jammu with not less than 60% marks
2. Those who have passed BBA/ B.Com University of Jammu/other than University of Jammu.) Combined merit list will be prepared for the students falling under this category.

33, SOCIOLOGY: A candidate to be eligible for admission to M.A Sociology must have passed in the qualifying examination with sociology as one of core subjects in the qualifying examination. However, A candidate who has passed in BA (other than sociology as core subject) / B.Com / BBA/ BSc/ B.Sc. Agriculture / LLB Professional examination securing minimum of 60% of the aggregate marks shall be eligible under second preference.

34. Psychology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor Degree examination with Honours in Psychology or Psychology as one of the Core Course

35. Rural Development: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination with any of the following subject ie. Sociology, Economics, Political Science, History, Social Work, Psychology, Philosophy, Home Science, Education, Commerce, Management.

36. Philosophy: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed Bachelor Degree examination in any stream with Philosophy as Core/ Elective Subject with not less than 50% marks for General Category and 45% for SC/ST Categories.

37. Education (M.A): A candidate seeking admission must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination with Education as one of the core courses.

38. Education (M.Ed): A candidate seeking admission to M.Ed programme must have passed B.Ed with minimum 50% marks.

39. B.P.Ed (Bachelor of Physical Education): A candidate who has passed the following examination shall be eligible for the B.P.Ed programme:-
1. Bachelor's degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the inter-College/inter Zonal/ District/ School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/10A/SGFI/Govt. of India. OR
2. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with 45% marks
OR
3. Bachelor's degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as compulsory/ electivevsubject.
OR
4. Bachelor's degree with 45% marks and having participated in National/Inter University/State competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in Inter College / Inter-Zonal/ District/ School competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
OR
5. Bachelor's Degree with participation in International competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National/Inter-University competition in sports and games as recognized by respective federations/ AIU/BIOA/SGFI/Govt. of India.
OR
6. Graduation Degree with 45% and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed in service candidates le, trained physical education teachers / coaches). The persons with disabilities are not eligible for admission to the programme. The candidates qualifying the written exam test prescribed by the University shall have to further appear in the Canadian Test to be conducted by the Department of the Physical Education, University of Jammu The number of candidates to be invited for appearing in the Canadian Test shall not exceed three (3) times the number of seats available in the Directorate. The selection for admission shall be made on the basis of composite merit obtained in the Entrance Test out of those qualifying the Canadian Test.

40. M.P.Ed (Master of Physical Education): A candidate who has passed the following examination shall be eligible for the M.P.Ed programme.

1. Bachelor's in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.)
or equivalent with atleast 50% marks.
OR
2. Bachelor's of Science(B.Sc.) In Health and Physical Education with atleast 50% marks.
OR
3. Bachelor's in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent with atleast 50% marks and atleast three years of teaching experience (for deputed in service candidates) The persons with disabilities are not eligible for admission to the programme. The candidates qualifying the written exam test prescribed by the University shall have to further appear in the Canadian Test to be conducted by the Directorate of the Physical Education, University of Jammu.

41. LAW (LL.B - 3 YEARS): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream with 45% of aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates)

42 B.Lib.I.Sc (Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of Bachelor degree examination in any stream.

43. M.Lib.I.Sc (Master Degree in Library and Information Science): A candidate seeking admission to M.Lib.I.Sc Course must have passed in B.Lib.I.Sc. Examination with 50% of aggregate marks (45% in case of SC/ST Candidate).

44. Commerce: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of qualifying B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Com (Gen.) under 10+2+3 pattern of University of Jammu. 10% of the total intake capacity will be available to the students other than B.Com who have secured not less than 60% marks

C) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:

45. Post-graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream.

46. Post-graduate Diploma in Human Rights & Duties Education: A candidate shall be eligible to seek admission to the programme if he/she has passed Bachelor's Degree examination under 10+2+3 in any discipline of the University of Jammu or an examination of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto with atleast 45% marks in the aggregate for open and other reserved category seats and 40% marks for SC/ST category year duration

47. Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the final year of bachelor degree examination in any stream.

48. Post-graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have Graduation in any branch of Science.

49. Post Graduate Diploma in Composite Culture Management (PGD-CCM): A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the Final Year of Bachelor's Degre Examination in any stream.

50. Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the Final Year of Bachelor's Degre Examination in any stream

51. Post Graduate Diploma in Museology: A candidate seeking admission to the programme must have passed in the Final Year of Bachelor's Degree Examination in any stream.

D) FOUR YEAR UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMMES (FYUP under NEP-2020)/ UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMMES:

52. B.Com (FYUP): B.Com. (FYUP) Course shall be open to a candidate who has passed in the Higher Secondary School Part-Il examination (10+2 Pattern) of the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto, with atleast 40% marks. Preference would be given to the candidates who have passed in the subject of Commerce at Higher Secondary Part il Level.

53. BA. English (FYUP): B.A. English programme shall be open to a candidate who has secured 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) in Higher Secondary School Part-II Examination (10+2 pattern) of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education or an examination recognized as equivalent thereof.

54. B.C.A. Data Science (FYUP): B.CA (Data Science) programme shall be open to a candidate who has passed in the Higher Secondary School Part-II examination (10+2 Pattern) of the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto, with atleast 50% marks (45% for SC/ST), Preference would be given to the candidates who have passed 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

55. B.A. LL.B. (5 Years): B.A. LL.B. 5 years course shall be open to a candidate who has passed in the Higher Secondary Part-il Examination (10+2 pattern) or equivalent examination in any discipline of J&K Board of School Education or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto, with not less than 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST). The age of the candidate should be not more than 21 years in case of general category and 22 years in case of SC/ST and other backward categories as on July 01, of the year in which admission is being sought.

56. BBA (Hotel Management): A candidate who has secured 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) in Higher Secondary School Part-Il Examination (10+2 pattern) of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education or an examination recognized as equivalent thereof
