Calicut University Common Admission Test (CUCAT ) - Guidelines

Guidelines


1. The applicants must produce a valid nativity certificate from the competent authority of Kerala to prove that they are natives of Kerala, at the time of admission.

2. The ethnic native Lakshadweep candidates are exempted from appearing the entrance examinations based on the sponsorship letter from the Lakshadweep Administration, subject to eligibility (U.O. No:14933/2016/Admn dated 26.12.2016). One seat in each PG programme is additionally created and reserved over and above the sanctioned strength for the native students of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, recommended by the Director of Education, Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

3. Those who are awaiting final semester/year results of the qualifying examination can also apply. All candidates including result awaiting students shall submit their Mark List/Grade Card to prove the eligibility of qualifying examination at the time of admission (U.O No.1530/2022/Admn Dated).

4. In programmes where selection criteria includes interview, Physical test, Aptitude test etc. the same shall be conducted by the concerned Departments before finalising the rank list.

5. All candidates seeking admission including those who seek admission under Management quota in affiliated/self financing colleges shall register online and appear for the entrance examination. Admission can only be made from the ranklist prepared by the University including the management seat.

6. No individual intimation will be sent to the candidates in respect of entrance examination, results, interview, physical test etc. Candidates shall update themselves with the University Website (www.admission.uoc.ac.in) and with the University Press releases for the latest information.

7. The type of questions shall be objective only, descriptive only or a combination of objective and descriptive questions. If the entrance examination includes objective type questions alone, there will be negative marks for each wrong answer. If it includes combination of objective type and descriptive type questions or descriptive questions only, there will be no negative scores.

8. The syllabus and Question Paper of entrance examination shall be based on the Eligibility of the programme.

9. The date of commencement of classes in the University Teaching Departments/University centres/affiliated colleges will be informed through press release/University Website.

10. Mandatory fee : If online allotment is conducted for filling the admission at University Teaching Departments/University Centres/Affiliated Colleges, each candidates should pay a mandatory fee to confirm allotment/admission. Mandatory Fee :- For SC/ST Candidates - Rs 115/- , For Others - Rs 480/-.

11. Candidates can apply for Additional PG programmes subject to the following conditions (U.O.No. 17579/2021/Admn dated 17.11.2021). A candidate having a regular PG Degree in Non Professional Programme can avail additional PG in Professional programmes under Regular mode. Likewise, a candidate having a regular PG Degree in Professional Programme can avail additional PG in Non Professional programmes under Regular mode. Students taking additional PG are not eligible for fee concession/reservation for admission.

12. Those candidates who had completed their qualifying examination from other Universities shall produce a percentage certificate from the concerned University, if the same is not mentioned in their final grade card/mark list. If they fail to submit the same before the stipulated time, they will not be considered for admission.

13. No fees other than those prescribed by the University/Govt. shall be levied from the students. (U.O.No:520/2019/Admn dated 14.01.2019 & Circular No:1680/DOA-ASST-2/2015/Admn, dated 08.02.2019).

14. The Fee Structure of the University Departments, University Centres, Aided/Govt. colleges and Self Financing colleges will be published in the website.

15. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) : Five percent (5%) of the seats within the sanctioned strength in each programme are reserved for Persons with Disabilities. (U.O.280/2018/Admn dated 06.01.2018).
15.1. Blind, Deaf and Hard of Hearing students are not eligible for admission to Integrated PG programmes in Science subjects involving practicals.
15.2. Persons with Disabilities who require Scribe for attending entrance examinations shall contact the office of the Controller of Examinations , Pareeksha Bhavan, University of Calicut and obtain appropriate orders, prior to the commencement of entrance examinations.

16. All candidates seeking admission including those who seek admission under management quota in aided/ self financing colleges shall register online and appear for the entrance examination. Admission can only be made from the rank list prepared by the University including management seat.

17.Maximum effort will be made to stick on to the tentative schedule of Entrance examination given in the prospectus , but it is liable to change due to unavoidable circumstances.

18. Sports Quota : One seat in each Post Graduate/Integrated PG programmes shall be additionally created and reserved over and above the sanctioned strength. The candidates who seek admission through sports quota should register through online. In addition to this, candidates seeking admission in the University Teaching Departments shall submit their application to the Department of Physical Education (DPE) before the last date of online registration along with necessary documents for getting considered to included in the sports quota rank list prepared by the Department of Physical Education. Only those candidates who have satisfied the norms prescribed below are eligible for admission under sports quota. [ U.O. No. 9697/2015 dated : 14.09.2015(PG)].


1. Representing the Country in International Competitions.

2. Winning the I / II / III in the Senior National Championships.

3. Representing Senior State in National Championships.

4. Winning I / II / III in the All India Inter University Championships.

5. Representing the University (U.O.No. GA I/A2/2454 / 1998 dated 01.10.1999 & 01.07.2003 and GA I/A2/5990 / 2003 dated 06.04.2004).

6. Member of the University Teams.

7. First/Second position in the Senior State Championship.

8. First position in the Inter Collegiate Inter zone Championship (1st preference to be given to University of Calicut, then MG University, then University of Kerala and then Kannur University). Norms 6, 7, 8 are added as per U O No.6494/2014/Admn dated. 07.07.2014.

9. Medal winners in Junior National Championship.

10. Persons representing the State in Junior National Championships.

11. I/II/III position holders in the inter Collegiate inter Zone Tournaments. Norms 9,10,11 are added as per UO No.13627/2016 /Admn dated 21/11/2016.
