Calicut University Common Admission Test (CUCAT ) - Eligibility & Registration Fee

Eligibility : Entrance Examination marks only
  • M.A Arabic Language & Literature :
    BA Arabic/Afsal-ul ulama/ Double Main / core with Arabic degree /B.A. Functional Arabic with at least 50% marks in Part III or BA/BSc (excluding alternative pattern) Degree with Arabic in Part II with at least 50% marks of this University or equivalent degree. For candidates under grading system overall CGPA at least equivalent to 50%.

  • M.A Hindi Language & Literature , M.A Functional Hindi & Translation :
    BA Hindi Lang. & Litt./ Functional Hindi/Hindi & History (Main/core) Degree with at least 45% marks for Part III or BA/BSc (excluding alternative pattern) Degree withHindi in Part II with at least 45% marks of this University or equivalent degree. For candidates under grading system overall CGPA at least equivalent to 50%.

  • M.A Malayalam Language and Literature :
    BA Malayalam Language and Literature (Main/Core) Degreewith at least 45% marks for part III, OR Any degree with Malayalam as common course with 45% marks, of this University or equivalent degree. For Candidates under grading system overall CGPA at least equivalent to 50%

  • M.A Urdu Language and Literature :
    BA degrees in Urdu/ Urdu Language and Literature/Urduwith Computer Application and Multilingual DTP/ Urdu & Islamic History with at least 45% marks in Part III(excluding subsidiaries)/ Core Courses, OR BA/B.Sc (excluding alternative/ LRP pattern) Degree with at least 45% marks in Urdu under part II/ Common Courses of this University, or equivalent Degree. For candidates under Grading System, overall CGPA should be at least equivalent to 50%.

  • M.A Comparative Literature :
    Any UG Degree with at least 50% marks for languages (either in Part II or Part III) of this University or equivalent degree. For candidates under grading system overall CGPA at least equivalent to 50%.

  • M.A Sanskrit Language & Literature :
    BA Sanskrit (core) Degree or BA/BSc (excluding alternative pattern) Degree with Sanskrit as common course of this University or equivalent degree with overall CGPA at least equivalent to 50%. Candidates who have Thullal, Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam and Koodiyattam are also eligible for admission to MA Sanskrit.

  • M.A Economics, M.A Financial Economics :
    BA degree from University of Calicut with Economics/Foreign Trade/ Development Economics (Main/core) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks for Part III (excluding subsidiaries) or equivalent grade OR BSc Degree of this University with Statistics/ Mathematics/ Computer Science (Main/core) with 70% marks for Part III (excluding subsidiaries) or equivalent grade. OR B.Com/BBA/BBM or equivalent degree with at least 60 percent marks (or equivalent grade) for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).


  • M.A Folklore, M.A History , M.A Journalism & Mass Communication :
    Candidates who have passed a Bachelor Degree course of this University or any other University recognized by this University as equivalent thereto and have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade are eligible to apply. Professional graduates will be considered for admission provided they secure minimum of first class (60%) in overall subjects.

Eligibility : Marks obtained in the entrance test + marks scored in the aptitude test.
  • M.A Music :
    Music Degree of this University or recognised degree with atleast 45% . OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for relaxation upto 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass. Under grade system : BA Music Degree of this University or recognised degree with overall CGPA atleast equivalent to 50%. OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for relaxation upto 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass.

    NOTE : Entrance examination is mandatory for all candidates applying for University Departments. Candidates must have a minimum score of 40% marks in the entrance examination to be eligible for attending the Aptitude Test. Aptitude Test is mandatory for all the candidates who have secured 40% in the entrance test. The minimum requisite for appearing for Aptitude Test shall be the ability to render an ‘‘ATA TALA VARNA’’ in 2 degrees of speed and the candidate should also answer any practical oriented questions from BA syllabus. In the absence of eligible candidates from the categories, the seats shall be allotted to B.A. Music degree holders

  • M.A Philosophy , M.A Sociology (Self Financing ), M.A Women's Studies, M.Sc Environmental Science (Self Financing) :
    Any UG degree of this University or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent overall CGPA.

  • M.A Political Science :
    Under Mark System: BA Degree in Political Science (Main),or any other Degree with at least one Main Paper (BA Public Administration, BA West Asian Studies) or complementary/subsidiary Paper in Political Science with 45% marksUnder grading system: BA Degree in Political Science (Core), or any other Degree with at least one Core Course (BA Public Administration / BA West Asian Studies) or Complimentary Course in Political Science (Complimentary Courses: Political Science, Indian Constitution and Politics, International Relations & Organisations and Public Administration) with overall CGPA equivalent to 50%.

  • M.Sc. Applied Chemistry:
    B.Sc.Degree of this University with Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry/ Polymer Chemistry (Main/core) or equivalent degree with Physics & Mathematics subsidiaries with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).

  • M.Sc. Applied Geology (Self Financing ) :
    B.Sc. Degree in Geology, Geology & Water Management as Core Courses from this University orany other University recognised by this University with any two of the following complementary courses : Physics/Chemistry/Statistics/ Remote Sensing & GIS/Mathematics with at least 50% marks (or equivalent grades).

  • M.Sc. Applied Plant Science:
    B.Sc degree of this University with Botany (main/core) or Plant Science (main/core) or an equivalent degree of any other University with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).

  • M.Sc. Applied Psychology :
    Those who passed BSc / BA Psychology as main/ core subject from Calicut University subject from Calicut University, or from any institution or university, with an equivalent/ recognized degree, in regular basis.

  • M.Sc. Applied Zoology :
    B.Sc Degree of this University, or equivalent/ recognised degree with Zoology (main/core) with 50% marks or equivalent grade in core (Part III excluding subsidiaries).

  • M.Sc. Computer Science :
    The candidate should have secured at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade inBSc.(Computer Science or Information Technology or Electronics or Physics or Mathematics or Statistics or Chemistry) or BCA/ B.Voc in Software Technology/ B.Voc in Software Development of this University or an equivalent degree OR at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade in B.Tech/BE (Computer Science or Information Technology or Electronics or Electronics and Telecommunication or Electronics and Communication) recognized by this University

  • M.Sc. Human Physiology :
    BSc Degree of this University with Zoology/Bio Technology/Bio Chemistry/Physiology (Main/core) or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for Part III (excluding subsidiaries).

  • M.Sc. Biochemistry ;
    B.Sc degree of this university or equivalent/ recognised degree with Biochemistry (Core/Main) with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.

  • M.Sc. Microbiology :
    B.Sc Microbiology degree of this university or an equivalent degree from other universities/institutes (with Microbiology Core/Main) with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade OR B.VocApplied Microbiology and Forensic Science degree of this university or an equivalent degree from other universities/institutes (with more than 40 credits for microbiology component) with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade

  • M.Sc. Mathematics :
    B.Sc. Degree in Mathematics (Main) or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in core and at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in Part III (core and complementary put together).In the case of those students having a B.Sc degree or B.Sc honours degree equivalent to the B.Sc Mathematics Degree of the Calicut University without complementary papers need only to secure at least 50 % marks in the core and electives put together( if there is/are any elective paper/papers).

  • M.Sc. Physics :
    B.Sc Degree in Physics/Applied Physics (Core) of this university or an equivalent degree, with Mathematics as compulsory complementary, having 50% mark or equivalent grade in Part III (Core and complementary put together).or B.Sc Physics Honours degree with 50% marks or equivalent grade in Physics core and electives put together. In the case of applicants with tripple main/three majors, they should have Physics and Mathematics as two mains/majors and should have minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade,while putting the three mains/majors together

  • M.Sc. Radiation Physics (Self financing) :
    A pass in B.Sc. Physics as core subject, with Mathematics as one of the subjects, from University of Calicut or equivalent with 60% marks in aggregate of the subjects or equivalent grade.

Registration fee :
  • General :
    PG/Integrated PG /BPEd/BPEd Rs.550 /- per programme
    Integrated LLM Rs. 750/- per programme

  • SC/ST
    PG/Integrated PG /BPEd/BPEd Rs. 240 /- per programme.
    Integrated LLM Rs. 350/- per programme

  • For each additional programme Rs.80 /- shall be paid by all the candidates
Mode of payment :
  • The fee for online registration can be made only through e-payment system (SBI Online/ Payment Gateway/ Friends Janasevana Kendram/ Akshaya Kendras). Printout of the application will be provided only if the payment is successful.

  • Application fee once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.
